Transient Visitor is the long-distance collaborative project between Alex Cargill and Martin Jensen of The Central Office of Information and The Home Current respectively.

Originally formed in 2020 when most of Europe was deep in a Covid-19 lockdown, Alex and Martin produced the first instalment of this process, TV1, a crackerjack of an album fizzing with electro, rave, techno, hip hop and early 90s trance influences. These were once again in full effect with their knock-out follow up TV2.

The reliably named TV3 completes the trilogy, and revisits these much loved, heartfelt frames of reference, while dialling up the stomping grooviness to unparalleled heights.

Martin describes the process in visceral terms: "we wanted to try to make TV3 a bit more ‘swampy and moist’ than our previous instalments. We like to think we somehow managed that."

Alex agrees: "this time, Martin took the tracks and gave them a proper dubby workout and (as he says) "swampified" them. There are all kinds of unexpected twists and turns. I think that this one is the best of the trilogy."

With Alex & Martin's rich underground electro-pedigree (including solo releases on Castles In Space, Polytechnic Youth & Woodford Halse to name a few), it's no surprise a spirit of skilful invention runs amok throughout. Once again, there is a joyous sense of being let off the leash, and we can see why, as Alex outlines their 'keep it simple' approach when writing material for Transient Visitor:

"it was fast and furious with files being pinged between Luxembourg and the UK every day or two. One of us would start a track from scratch, send it to the other and see what they could add to it. We tried not to overthink it too much and this made it a lot of fun to create."

I already loved Fran's music, but he's now moved into the first division! Each of his releases is a jewel in a different way. Here he uses a combination of beautiful textures and melodies with beats. Normally, beats aren't my thing, but here the effect is very inspiring, not dissimilar to the best Helios work. This is life-affirming music that brightens your day. Allister Thompson
